Mother's Day Challenge

I was stumped trying to decide what to do for the May challenge. It was suggested to me that I centre it around Mother's Day. My first thought was "that is too obvious.... make a Mother's Day card... pfffft". I don't want to issue a challenge that is 'expected'.

But then it was suggested that I issue the challenge from a personal angle (i.e. my mother's favourite colour, etc).

So, your challenge for the month of May is to create a Mother's Day card (or paper craft gift for your mother) inspired by my mother's favourite flower - the gladiolus.

And just to show that I am a caring individual, here's a picture to get you inspired:

  1. Eeeeeep!! You are a crafty, crafty challenge-maker. Let me clarify, that is crafty like a fox not crafty like a crafty person who does crafts, although technically you are definitely that also. What I am trying to say is that I've been wracking my brains for Mother's day card ideas ( I have 4 to make) and I thought I finally had everything planned out...and now you throw this challenge out!!! Gladiolas??? This throws a serious wrench into thoughtful planning. Good thing I like you so much...and good thing I like gladiolas (gladioli? gladiolases?) so much. I will get back to the Mother's Day card drawing board apparently.
ps - Kudos on picking up the challenge again...my apologies for April's absence :( You are soooo good and the ultimate challenge maker. Here's to the Dukes!!

  2. "Gladiolus (from Latin, the diminutive of gladius, a sword) is a genus of perennial bulbous flowering plants in the iris family (Iridaceae).[1] Sometimes called the sword lily, the most widely used English common name for these plants is simply gladiolus (plural gladioli, gladioluses or sometimes gladiolas)."
